Chelsea have signed Christian Pulisic from Borussia Dortmund in a stunning £58million deal.

The American star will remain with the Bundelsiga outfit for the rest of the campaign before hooking up with the Blues in the summer.

Pulisic's contract in Dortmund was due to expire in the summer, although the club would have been entitled to a hefty compensation package.

However, the Blues have swooped to secure the forward's services.

"It was always Christian's dream to play in the Premier League. That certainly has to do with his American background, and as a result we were unable to extend his contract, " says BVB sporting director Michael Zorc.

"Against this background, we have decided to accept an extremely lucrative bid by Chelsea, given the low contract maturity.

"Christian Pulisic is a character perfect player. I am sure that in the coming months he will do everything in his power to bring his high quality to the team and to achieve his sporting goals with his team-mates Borussia Dortmund. "

Pulisic had been linked strongly with a reunion with Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool, but the German boss reportedly opted against a move for the 20-year-old.

Pulisic said: "It's a privilege to have signed for such a legendary club and I look forward to working hard towards being a contributor to their team of world class players.

"Look forward to working with Maurizio Sarri and his technical team."

The young gun has scored 15 goals in 115 games for Dortmund since making his debut as a teenager back in 2016.

Pulisic has netted three times in 18 games for the Bundesliga outfit so far this season.

The winger has already played in England, spending a year with non-league outfit Brackley Town as a seven-year-old after his mum, Kelley, moved to the UK for a teaching exchange in 2005.

Speaking back in 2016, Pulisic told the Daily Mail: "A lot of people don't realise but it really brought on my passion for the game.

"After school every day, I was just out for hours in the park, playing with my schoolmates.

"That's really where my love for the game started to come alive and that was a big part of my development.

"I just started to love it so much and I said: "Wow. I'm pretty good! I think I can do something with this game."
