Manchester United fans are already calling for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to be sacked after final day defeat by Cardiff City.

The Red Devils finished their disappointing campaign sixth, closer on points to the relegated Bluebirds than Premier League title winners Manchester City.

United haven't won since April 13 when they beat West Ham at home. After that then they were knocked out of the Champions League by Barcelona, who battered them 3-0.

They then lost 4-0 to Everton and lost the Manchester Derby by two goals to nil.

Solskjaer's men were held at home by Chelsea in their following match but then failed to beat relegated Huddersfield at the John Smith's Stadium, which ended their chances of finishing in the top four.

The final game of the season was a dead rubber for the Red Devils.

But fans were expecting the players to sign off on a good note with a win over relegated Cardiff City. Instead they lost 2-0.

Reacting on Twitter, some United supporters are already calling for Solskjaer's head, despite the fact he was only named permanent boss in March.

One fan wrote: "How can United fans accept that Solskjaer is coach? There should be protests every match until he's sacked."

Another added: "Let's sack Solskjaer now and get [Mauricio] Pochettino. I do think if Spurs win the Champions League, which I am wishing for he will have climaxed at Spurs. Let him rebuild United. The job is far too big for Ole."

And a third concluded: "Sack Solskjaer show some b*******. No way this PE teacher is bringing the glory days back. Dropped points against Huddersfield and Cardiff. Ole at the wheel and driving in the wrong lane."
