Kenya men’s national football team Harambee Stars has dropped two spots in the latest FIFA rankings released on Thursday, April 4, 2019.

Harambee Stars slid from 106th to the 108th position with 1202 points.

The rankings come after the team suffered a 1-0 loss against Ghana’s Black Stars in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier last month.

Kenya, who have qualified for the showpiece event for the first time since 2004, had been in good form before the loss to Ghana - with back to back wins against the Black Stars and Ethiopia in Nairobi.

Meanwhile, her neighbours Uganda have also dropped two places to 79th with 1302 points after a 3-0 mauling by Tanzania in an AFCON qualifier clash last month in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania.

Tanzania have climbed six places to 131st position with 1105 points after thrashing Uganda to qualify for AFCON for the first time in 39 years.

Burundi, who held Gabon to a 1-1 draw in their last AFCON qualifier match, scaled two places up to 136th position with 1089 points after qualifying for the tournament for the first time in history. Her close neighbours Rwanda are one point below them in 138th spot.

Elsewhere, Belgium, France and Brazil have retained the top three positions with World Cup finalists Croatia dropping one spot to fifth as England rose to fourth after a spectacular performance in Montenegro last month.

Senegal is Africa’s highest ranked nation after rising one spot to 23rd with 1515 points as second-placed Tunisia retained 28th spot with 1491 points.

Nigeria closes Africa’s top three with 1435 points after rising four places to 42nd spot.
