Kenya's U-20 women's national team drew 2-2 against Ethiopia in their first round fixture of the CAF U-20 World Cup qualifier on Sunday evening.
The team's official Musa Otieno said this was not the result they expected from the fixture and that they would now focus on the return leg in two weeks.
"We were unlucky to concede two goals so early in the game, but we are happy the girls showed good character and salvaged a crucial point so late in the game.
"Our focus now is on the second leg and hopefully we will get some positive results and progress in the qualifiers," said Otieno.
Mirkat Felke and Alemnesh Germew scored a goal each in the first half before Kenya bounced back with goals from captain Corazone Aquino and Maureen Khakasa.
