The move comes just hours after Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain joined Liverpool.

The Gunners have been in pursuit of the France international all summer, and it appears that Wenger has decided to fork out the funds.

The North London giants see the 21-year-old as a replacement for Sanchez, who is currently the target of a £60million bid from Manchester City.

Arsenal have had three offers rejected for Lemar this summer, including the highest of £50m.

Lemar has also been the subject of three bids from Liverpool, but it appears that Wenger might be winning the deadline day tug-of-war with the latest record-breaking bid.

However, Arsenal now face a race against the clock to get the paperwork done in time before the transfer window slams shut.

Some sources are even suggesting the Gunners have pulled out of the deal already and will keep Alexis Sanchez due to the limited timeframe.
