Mourinho is eyeing a reunion with Matic

Jose Mourinho is ready to give Chelsea another transfer headache - with a shock swoop for midfielder Nemanja Matic.

With Chelsea reeling at the prospect of losing leading scorer Diego Costa after his bust up with Antonio Conte amid interest from China, Mourinho's pursuit of Matic will come as another blow to the League leaders.

While Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann is the main priority signing for Mourinho his pursuit of Chelsea's 28-year-old midfield enforcer Matic is equally important to the United boss, according to the Mirror.

With United banking £22 million last week for Morgan Schneiderlin and Michael Carrick coming to the end of his days with his 36th birthday just days before the start of next season, Mourinho wants a suitable import to cover both bases.
