Chemelil Sugar have had a great run in the second leg of the Kenyan Premier League and are now perched on the third spot.

It has been a great improvement for the sugar millers who were battling relegation last season.

Veteran midfielder Hillary Echesa believes that good signing in the June transfer window has made a big difference in their performance.

“We have remained very consistent especially in the second leg and it has helped us do well.

“This has been occasioned by the new signings we brought into the team. They have fit in well and helped us a lot,” he said. The former Tusker and Sofapaka midfielder has been in top form and attributes that to a desire to excel and prove himself.

“I have been very eager to play in the KPL once again after being away for some time.

“This eagerness  is my biggest motivation and the reason for my great performance,” he said.

Echesa said he hopes to be considered for any award and believes he has done enough to deserve one.

Chemelil have lost only once since the second leg resumed after going down by a solitary goal to Kakamega Homeboyz who are handled by Mike Mururi, a former Chemelil coach.
