Kenyan Premier League champions Gor Mahia have pledged to eradicate hooliganism that has bedeviled the former continental giants for years.

The club officials believe hooliganism has been costly to the team especially in their quest to secure sponsors.

But Gor Mahia chairman Ambrose Rachier is grateful to sponsors, who have shown interest in the team in the past.

One of the latest sponsor to join the club is beverage company SAB Miller that yesterday signed a Sh50million deal with Gor Mahia.

The three-year deal was signed through the company's subsidiary, Crown Lager. The company will now brand Gor Mahia jerseys.

Rachier said they will continue to eradicate hooliganism and anti- social behaviour before, during and after matches. They will also help promote the game of football so that they can attract more sponsors.

Rachier praised their new sponsors saying it is a step towards the right direction for Gor as well as other premier league clubs.

"This partnership is founded on a shared belief in striving for excellence in product creation and service delivery. This partnership will also demonstrate the two brands' mutual commitment to making a difference in the lives of our communities and fans at large," said Rachier.

"With this partnership, our fans in Kenya along with consumers of Crown Lager can now look forward to great football experiences, as this partnership brings them the best of both worlds" Rachier added.

While handing over the cheque, the company's Commercial Director David Minja, said his organisation was pleased to secure the deal with Gor Mahia.

"I am pleased to announce the partnership between Gor Mahia and one of our quality beer brands, Crown Lager. This partnership will result in a lot of benefits for Gor Mahia and its huge fan base in Kenya and consumers of our product."
