Rachier, Team Change hit big in FKF polls

Balewa Ndakona was elected secretary after collecting 64 votes, with Michael Senelwa garnering 42 votes.
In Butere Mumias, Team Change candidates won the three posts that were being contested, with Abdu Wanyonyi being elected chairman, Walter Omukongolo elected secretary and Rufus Mukonasi being elected treasurer.

In Marakwet, there were no elections, allowing Team Change candidates to go in unopposed. In Uasin Gishu, Paul Tororei was elected chairman with George Barasa coming as secretary and Rita Musyoka as women representative.

Keiyo sub-branch was also claimed by Team Change candidates, with Joseph Limo being elected chairman, Jacob Cherotich as secretary and John Chebet as treasurer.

In Nandi North, Oscar Rono was elected chairman with Charles Lagat as Secretary and Edwin Korir as treasurer.

The new Nandi South sub-branch chairman is James Kiplimo while the Secretary is Joseph Shillah and Eunice Chepkosgei was elected women representative.

In Mombasa and Kwale sub-branches, candidates allied to presidential aspirant Ambrose Rachiel and his running mate Twaha Mbarak swept the boards.
In Kwale sub-branch, the opposing team allied to Nick Mwendwa cried foul, saying only four clubs out of 10, which were mandated to vote, voted. “We were short-changed at the last minute as some clubs were locked out,” claimed Shilling Fumbwe, who was vying for the secretary’s seat. The team refused to participate in the election, allowing their opponents to win 11-0 in all positions as only 12 delegates were entitled to vote.

For chairmanship, Akram Mohammed was declared the winner with Salim Jumbe going in as vice chairman. Salim Mwaranda and Nusura Hassan will serve as secretary and assistant secretary respectively. Treasurer is Omari Khalfan and will be deputised by Said Mamu. Halima Issa and Juma Kamanza will serve as women and youth representatives respectively.
In Mombasa, at Star of the Sea Social Hall, Shem Lumumba garnered 60 votes against his closest challenger, Ali Said’s 45 to win the youth seat. John Kyalo was third with 32 votes. For the women representative’s position, Lucy Abuna won with 57 votes against Amina Gari and Melina Mukabili’s 41 and 32 votes respectively.
Meanwhile, two aspirants for the vice presidency Twaha Mbarak and Hussein Terry praised those elected, saying democracy prevailed during the election.
“We are happy the elections went on peacefully and we are looking forward to changes in the management of football at all levels,” said Mbarak.
Terry said clubs exercised their democratic right to vote in people of their choice.
