Renowned football icon, Joe Kadenge (pictured right) will officially launch his biography today at Sarova Stanley Hotel.
His book, authored by John Nene and published by Phoenix Publishers, spells out the life and times of Kadenge, taking to mind his dribbling skills and great techniques that saw his name remain a household name in the lips of many Kenyans.
Former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga, will preside over the ceremony.
“Many Kenyans recall the vigour in which commentators mentioned Kadenge during a football match...Kadenge na mpira...Kadenge na mpira..., notes Nene, a sports journalist working with the BBC.
“It was not easy for most of us to play in shoes...because they were too heavy,” Kadenge explains Kadenge in his biography.
The story of my life seeks to spur a sense of diligence and perseverance in upcoming sportsmen and women who might feel like giving up.
“As I celebrate 80 years of my life, there is no better gift I could offer the generations to come than sharing a piece of my life,” says Kadenge.
The book pays homage to Kadenge and other great football players including James Siang’a, John Nyawanga, Bernard Ajode, Stephen Ochieng, Ahmed Breik, Omar Nassir, Tony Lidonde, Edward Kedogo, David Muraya, Dennis Obua, Reuben Osoro, Jamin “Kilo” Mwanzi, Austin Oduor and John “Shoto” Lukoye.
