Posta Rangers were made to pay for their wastefulness in front of goal after Mark Bikokwa’s second half header propelled Nzoia United to the third round of the GOtv Shield after beating last year’s losing finalists 1-0, at the Kasarani Stadium, yesterday.

The Postmen had the better of the match, dominating their Football Kenya Federation Premier League rivals, but when it came to the final third their finishing let them down.

In the second match at the same venue, Lamine Diallo came off the bench to inspire a 10-man AFC Leopards to the third round of the GOtv Shield competition after beating a resilient Wazito FC 2-1.

The Ivorian import made a brilliant run from Leopards’ half to net a last gasp goal for the 2013 Cup winners.

The University of Nairobi side took the lead through Joakim Omollo’s 51st minute opener before youngster Dennis Dodi draw level in the 69th minute, a few moments after replacing Khalid Jumaan.

The victory left AFC coach Zdravko Logarusic a relieved man.

“We took at lot of risks and I am happy it paid off. The substitutes did their job well,” said Logarusic.
