Former Youth Fund boss Gor Semalang’o has joined the Stop Football Genocide Group in a bid to oust incumbent Football Kenya Federation chairman Sam Nyamweya in the upcoming football elections.

Semalang’o becomes the latest entrant in the already crowded race for the top football seat in the country.

He joins Sammy Sholei, Dan Shikanda, Ken Oliech, Alex ole Magelo and former deputy presidential candidate Ronald Osumba for the battle to control football in Kenya.

The other candidate is Kariobangi Sharks chairman manager Nick Mwendwa. Speaking yesterday during a press conference at Serena Hotel, Semalang’o said the FKF accounts should be audited, adding that their main objective is to ensure transparency, zero tolerance on corruption and progressive football management in the country.

“We demand a comprehensive audited accounts of all the monies (amounting to hundreds of millions) received by FKF from Fifa and elsewhere in the last four years.

We also demand to know the truth about TV rights in Kenyan football; this includes the status of the StarTimes deal, SuperSport as well as the MP Silva deals,” said Semalang’o.

“We are also seeking clarification on the failed overpriced ICT system that was supplied to FKF through a company affiliated to Nick Mwendwa, who is also in gunning for the FKF President’s position against Nyamweya,” he added.

Asked if he has been endorsed as the group’s presidential candidate, Semalang’o said: “As it stands, Sholei and Shikanda have been illegally suspended by FKF and that means I am the preferred candidate. But we will have a meeting and decide who will carry the team’s flag.”

But Sholei said: “As agents of positive change in saving our game, Gor has now joined our team. He is an invaluable addition to the team which is now confident of winning.”
