Ulinzi supports Kenyan Premier League

With the impasse over league expansion still unresolved, Ulinzi Stars have now thrown their support behind Kenyan Premier League’s 16-team league format for the 2015 season.

In a statement published on the club’s official website, Chairman Col JS Mwinyikai said the 2010 KPL champions will participate in the KPL managed league and not in the FKF Premier League.

“Ulinzi Stars will seek to maintain the status quo by participating in a league run by the Kenyan Premier League Limited which has shown a high level of professionalism, accountability and transparency,” said Mwinyikai.

“Officially, Ulinzi Stars has only received fixtures from the KPL and are currently in preparations geared towards the same. Ulinzi will take part in a more dialogue oriented approach as per the desire of the Government to respect FIFA’s recommendations and directives in seeking a permanent solution.”

However, the official called on the two warring factions to return to negotiating table.

“Our players will remain faithful to the national team when called upon as our first call as soldiers is to serve the nation. We hope that we will find an amicable solution and the league will start as we seek to put our game scaling on the world map.”
