Premier League: Mourinho rules out possibility of another unbeaten season

Jose Mourinho on Friday dismissed the idea that his table-topping Blues can go through the season unbeaten.

Mourinho goes head to head with arch-nemesis Arsene Wenger on Sunday with Chelsea already six points clear of Arsenal having won five out of six Premier League games.

It was Wenger's side who set the standard with their ''Invincibles'' campaign the season before Mourinho first arrived at Stamford Bridge.

But the Chelsea boss insisted: ''I don't think we can go through the season without losing.

''When Arsenal did it it was something that happened once in a lifetime.

''I don't see, in modern football with the competitiveness of this Premier League, one team being champion without a defeat. In my opinion, that will stay in the history as the first – and the last.''

Last term of course, Mourinho's personal spat with Wenger was re-opened by his ''specialist in failure'' jibe, one which infuriated the Frenchman.

Asked if he regretted his words, Mourinho replied: ''It was a consequence of something. It wasn't a deliberate first option to say something. It was a consequence of something.

''I didn't get an apology. I don't apologise. My feeling about it is, to go over it, to forget it and to move forward without thinking about what happened, because you don't need to apologise.

''Intelligent football people don't need that. Finish it, move on and let's go for another match with big responsibility for both of us.

''We manage two big clubs in London and we have a responsibility - not to win, but to give a good match for the millions of fans both clubs have, and the billions of fans of the Premier League around the world, to have a big match with no problems.''

The match sees Cesc Fabregas up against the side where he was a hero before his return to Barcelona, with the expectation that the Spaniard will be jeered by some Arsenal fans.

Mourinho added: ''I think if the Chelsea fans want to, then nobody will hear the reaction from the Arsenal fans.

''It depends on Chelsea's fans. But if 40,000 Blues fans want, nobody will listen to 3,000 red fans. For me, that's an important point.

''After that, I don't know. I really don't know. It depends also of the club culture, as you could see with Chelsea fans with Frank Lampard. Or maybe you will see, who knows, Chelsea fans with Ashley Cole if he comes back with Roma.

''It depends. Fabregas was, I don't say born, but almost made at Arsenal. The feeling should be a good feeling between the fans and him.''
