Neymar injury: David Beckham wishes Brazilian well after back injury ends his World Cup dream

David Beckham has sent Neymar his wishes following the Brazilian's World Cup-ending injury.

The Selecao superstar was stretchered off during Friday night's quarter-final win over Colombia after being kneed in the back by Juan Zuniga.

Scans later confirmed he had suffered a fractured vertebra, subsequently ending his tournament.

And Beckham has shared his sympathy, posting a series of https://cdn.standardmedia.co.ke/images of the pair on his official Facebook account.

The ex-England captain's post read: "Very disappointing to no longer to see Neymar Jr. playing at World Cup.

"Considering the pressure he has been under, he has been incredible. Get better soon and I know you will come back even stronger, forca Neymar."

Meanwhile, the Brazilian team doctor has dismissed talk the Barcelona man could make a miracle recovery and play in the final - should the hosts get there.

There were reports over the weekend that Neymar would receive painkilling injections but Jose Luis Runco has ruled out such use.

He said: "There is not the slightest possibility of Neymar playing on the 13th, if we reach the final.

"At no time was there a treatment option. We will not in any way create an illusion for our Brazilian population of something that does not exist."
