Gor Mahia and KRA shared the spoils in an exciting Kenyan Premier League (KPL) match at Kasarani, yesterday.

Both sides will be happy to have picked a point from the fixture, considering the numerous scoring chances which they wasted in both halves.

The results keep Gor Mahia at the top of the log with 30 points while their opponents are fifth on 24 points.

In another match at the same venue, Western Stima failed to pick maximum points after City Stars pulled an injury time equaliser for both sides to draw 1-1 at Safaricom Kasarani Stadium.

Wesley Kemboi scored for Stima after 22 minutes of play, tapping home a well executed cross from John Kiplagat.

But Lawrence Kasadha headed home the equaliser in injury time, helping City Stars to get a point from the encounter.

The visitors were the hungrier side as the match kicked off and Collins Neto watched in disbelief as his cross from the left flank went begging with no one to tap it home in the third minute.

Ten minutes later, Stima got the first corner of the match as they continued to pile pressure on their opponents.

But Stima were nearly punished for an of erratic moment by goalkeeper Patrick Agwanda. In the 16th minute,  he came out of his box  and was lucky not to be sent off after he missed to touch the ball but instead punched his defender George Wesa who had to be taken out for treatment after the incident.

After that incident Collins Neto was denied by Kevin Omondi in the City Stars goal as the visitors kept up their efforts for an opener.

Two minutes later, Kemboi was on the mark as he opened the scores for the visitors. City Stars should have equalised just after the half an hour mark when Raymond Ochieng’ was denied by Patrick Agwanda in the Stima goal after he stretched to keep the ball out.

As the first half wound up, Stima’s Hudson Muhako was cautioned for an infringement on Jimmy Bagaye. Kevin Oliech’s free kick from the situation went wide.

John Amboko of City Stars was also cautioned. City Stars rested Collins Neto for Job Omuse and Daniel Makachi for Robert Makwayi.

City Stars brought on Justus Basweti for George Abega and Victor Ashinga for Collins Okumu, a move that added punch upfront as they kept up the pressure resulting in the injury time equaliser. —[email protected]
