Gotv Shield Cup: Bandari, Nakumatt FC, Kakamega Homeboyz and Posta Rangers qualify for the third round

Kenyan Premier League side Bandari, Nakumatt FC, Kakamega Homeboyz and Posta Rangers have all qualified for the third round of the Gotv Shield Cup after beating their respective opponents.

Mohammed Mwachiponi combined well with Eric Ochieng to put the Dockers ahead in the 42nd minute before the former Karuturi Sports striker setted-up Ochieng three minutes later for the visitors to beat Busia United 2-0 at Bukhungu Stadium, yesterday.

In an earlier kick-off match at the same venue, former Thika United custodian Zamu Adisa saved two penalties as Nakummat trounced Polos FC 3-0 on post match penalties after a 1-1 draw in regular time.

Brian Odhiambo broke the deadlock in the 33rd minute, but with three minutes remaining Polos’ Kelvin Thairu nodded an equalizer forcing the match to reach penalties.

At Hope Centre, KPL club KCB was given a reality check after a shocking 5-4 defeat to Ligi Ndogo as GFC 105 beat KRA 6-5 in Limuru-both on penalties.

In other matches played yesterday, HotSprings beat Transfok 2-1, while Fresha FC lost 1-0 to Moyas.

On Friday, at Afraha Stadium, Homeboyz thrashed St. Josephs 3-0 on penalties after a barren draw in normal time as Rangers labored to beat a resilient Vihiga United by a solitary goal.

Action continues on Sunday across the country with seven matches on card.

Tusker host Western Stima in a KPL affair encounter at Ruaraka Grounds as Sofapaka travels to Mombasa to face little known Vibwanga FC.

Nzoia United lock horns with Mumbi Nationale, FC Talanta take on Mahakama, Imara FC play host to Oserian while Nyakach United battle with Kariobangi Sharks.
