Football Kenya Federation will reserve the right to accept, reject or inspect any stadium to prove its suitability to host league matches.

FKF chairman Sam Nyamweya said this after a consultative meeting with branch chairmen and secretaries in Nairobi. Previously, the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) was responsible for the approval of stadia, but the meeting ruled that KPL can only make recommendations to the federation to approve or amend host stadia through its technical committee.

“FKF will, for example, have the final word on the desire by Tusker FC to play at Meru’s Kinoru Stadium,” said Nyamweya in a statement.

At the same time, the federation wants KPL to reinstate ex-FIFA referee Elias Kuloba and action taken against those  responsible for removing his name from the roll of referees for the 2014 season despite FKF assigning him to officiate.

The meeting also noted that suspended members, former vice chairman Sammy Sholei, FKF Nairobi County chairman Dan Shikanda and Mombasa National Executive Committee (Nec) member Hussein Terry should be expelled from all football related activities and this should be ratified at the annual general meeting.

“They took FKF to court contrary to the Fifa Statutes,” said the statement.

Former FKF Chief Executive Officer, Lordvick Omondi Aduda, was put to task to account for his tenure.

Nyanza Nec member Tom Alila got a reprieve when the officials agreed to reinstate him on condition that he accounts for the money entrusted to him by the Harambee Stars Management Board.

It was agreed that any vacant position arising within FKF branches must be filled through an elective process subject to the approval by Nec members.

“The funds realised from the newly refurbished Kisumu Moi Stadium shall be shared between the national office, the county government of Kisumu and the FKF local branch through a tripartite agreement,” said the statement.

The branches were urged to show transparency and accountability in all their finances.

An eight-man task force was named to oversee the immediate enactment of branch and sub-branch constitutions and will be chaired by Robert Asembo, the FKF Legal Committee chairman.

“The process must be concluded by June for ratification at our annual general meeting,” said Nyamweya.

FKF has also advised branches to adhere to the harmonised National League calendar that kicks off next month to November.

Branches that fail to complete their leagues within the calendar dates will not have their teams considered for promotion.

FKF has plans to give branches authority to take 10 per cent of gate collections from all league matches played in their backyard.
