Nturiri Boys High School in Chogoria will relocate to create room for expansion of Chogoria Campus of Chuka University.

Plans to move the school are ongoing after Chogoria Campus was officially opened by Vice-Chancellor Erastus Njoka last week.

Currently, the two institutions share some facilities, including the sports ground.

Maara MP Kareke Mbiuki, the patron of the local National Government-Constituency Development Fund, handed Nturiri Boys High School a Sh11.6 million cheque to cover relocation costs.

Mr Mbiuki appealed to the university to help in building a dining hall for the high school when it relocates to an area neighbouring Nturiri Primary School.

Prof Njoka praised the local community for supporting the construction of the university campus.

“Nobody said we wanted to grab this land. This area will develop into a big town. The students are from 47 counties and the university will be instrumental in solving many things. It will educate our children who will, in turn, develop this and other areas,” he stated.

University Council Chairman Julius Rotich said the university will contribute towards building facilities for Nturiri Boys.

“We shall take it to the council, discuss and see how we can help build a few of those facilities,” said Dr Rotich.
