Cricket: South African sides stifle Kenya's run in T20

National Cricket team lost their second match of the Africa T20 tournament after going down to Eastern Province by 79 runs at Police Park in East London, South Africa yesterday.

Eastern Province, who were put in to bat, scored 188 for the loss of seven wickets with Mathew Breetzke picking 69 runs from 49 balls, Edward Moore 54 runs from 31 balls, Mathew Christensen 30 runs from 16 balls and Lesiba Ngoepe 13 runs from 11 balls.

Nehemiah Odhimabo was the biggest wicket taker for Kenya as he finished with figures of 3 for 27 in three overs. Rakep Patel, Shem Ngoche and Kennedy Otieno picked a wicket each. In the second match against Border, Kenya went down by eight wickets after scoring 130 for six. Irfan Karim hit 31 runs in 32 balls while Alex Obanda managed 28 in 25 balls. Shem Ngoche managed 22 runs from 16 balls while Dhiren Gondaria had a 12-ball 16.

On Friday, Kenya beat Mpulanga by eight wickets. The team nearly missed the trip due to constant wrangles in Cricket Kenya which has seen the association’s account frozen.
