Bucks set high target as KPA eye top spot

Bottom placed Kisumu Lady Bucks will be seeking to build on their first win of the KBF Women’s Premier League campaign when they visit Zetech University, Equity Bank and Kenyatta University in Nairobi.

The Kisumu based side defeated Eagle Wings 49-43 last weekend to end their eight-match winless run in the league and another victory in the campaign will help the team escape the chop zone.

Lady Bucks captain Stephanie Tongoi said they are confident ahead of the match.

“The win against Eagle Wings showed us that everything is possible when you believe and work hard. The team is motivated. We are just getting started. This is a fresh start for us and the only way to go is forward.”

“We still believe we can get out of the bottom spot if we post positive results in the remaining matches,” said Tongoi, who will miss the three matches with a slight injury.

Lady Bucks will play Zetech University at noon today at Nyayo Stadium before playing twice tomorrow against defending champions Equity Banks and Kenyatta University at 10am and 4pm respectively. The Kisumu side are bottom with 10 points but with nine games in hand.

In the men’s premier league, Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) will be seeking to seal their top spot position with wins against Umoja and Emyba.

KPA are top with 37 points, two behind Equity Banks and three ahead of Ulinzi Warriors who have three games in hand.
