KDF ready to shine at Organisation of Military Sports in Africa games in Nigeria

Kenya Defence Forces are participating in the 1st Chief of Defence Staff Organisation of Military Sports in Africa (OSMA) Sahel Countries Military Games for Peace and Solidarity in Abuja Nigeria.

The event will take place at Aguiyi Ironsi Cant Sports Complex with Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Guinea Conakry, Kenya, Mali, Tanzania, Chad, Cameroon and Congo Brazzaville in attendance.

Kenya is among the invited nations outside the Sahel Region that will participate in a 4x100m peace relay.

Nigeria’s Chief of the Defence Staff General Leo Irabor said that the organisation of these games will play an important role in solving the security challenges in the Sahel region through non-kinetic means and inculcate integrity amongst participating countries.

OSMA President, Brigadier General Abdullahi, said the tournament intends to demonstrate an example of cooperation between militaries of the participating countries for solidarity and a show of African brotherhood.

He said the maiden edition was limited in scope to only football, golf and marathon for member countries and invited nations that will take part in a peace relay.

He added that the next Championship would be hosted by Chad Republic and would feature combat race, shooting, boxing and basketball.
