Bach re-election good stability for Olympics Kenya and KCS programmes

The International Olympic Committee goes into the 2020 Olympic Games in Japan assured of continuity after Dr Thomas Bach was re-elected as the president of the IOC for a second term.  Olympics Kenya who are partners of the Kenya Charity Sweepstake were among the first to congratulate Bach on his re-election.

“On behalf of the Olympics Kenya and the entire Olympic family here, I salute Dr. Thomas Bach for his resounding re-election as the President of the International Olympic Committee for a second term during the ongoing 137th IOC Session,” said Olympics Kenya president, Paul Tergat.

He added “This re-election is an endorsement of the inspirational and transformative initiatives that the president injected into the organization upon election in Buenos Aires in 2013.”

For Kenya, Bach’s visionary and dynamic leadership has had a tremendous positive impact with his Agenda 2020, which placed the athlete at the centre of all activities, with increased support to athletes to achieve this objective.

That objective for Olympics Kenya is to see more athletes qualify for the 2020 Olympic Games in Japan from July 23^rd to August 8 2020, as well as the 2024 Olympic games in Paris. It is for this reason that Olympics Kenya has partnered with Kenya Charity sweepstake to raise funds for Team Kenya to ensure the athletes’ training programmes are well funded toa chieve the desired results.

Faith Ogallo will represent Kenya at the Olympics in Tae Kwon Do heavy weigh category. She is the third athletes to make it to the Olympics in the sport, following in the footsteps of the late Dickson Wamwiri and female athlete Milka Akinyi who both played at the 2008 Beijing Olympic games.

Faith has been training hard and is looking forward to upsetting the form books at the Olympic games. She lauded the partnership between Olympics Kenya and Kenya Charity Sweepstakes. Kenya Charity Sweepstake signed a five-year deal with Olympics Kenya where KCS through the lotto Bomba lottery is raising funds for Olympic preparations for the Tokyo Olympics as well as the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

“I want to say thank you to NOC-K and Kenya Charity Sweepstake because I’m now able to access better training skills; now the game is scientific, and this is very expensive, and through this partnership, the facilities have really improved my game. KCS CEO Yaron Farachi says his organization is happy to be part of the fund-raising team since to create a champion is not cheap.

“Olympics Kenya need more than half a billion Kenya shillings every four years to prepare a team to go for the Olympic games. In between the four years, money is still required for training programmes and different competitions. That is why we partnered with Olympics Kenya to raise funds for the athletes specifically through the lotto Bomba game,” he said.

He added “We can’t do this alone; we are relying on Kenyans to support us in this endeavor. We know how passionate Kenyans are with their sportsmen and would always want them to win.
