Winning a gold medal at the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games in Australia has yet turned out to be an elusive affair for Kenyan athletes. This is after Celliphine Chespol and Purity Kirui who were favourites, settled for silver and bronze respectively in the women’s 3000m steeplechase final as Jamaican Aisha Praught pipped them for Gold
Praught crossed the finish line at 9:21.00 with Chespol coming closer at 9:22.61. Purity Kirui finished third at 9:25.74 while Facy Cherono, another Kenyan came sixth on 9:46.27.
Kenya still maintains position 23 behind Grenada in the medal table with now six medals, 3 silvers and 3 bronze.
