La Liga round 37 preview: Getafe look to complete miracle top-four finish at Barcelona
The 37th round of action in Spain’s La Liga sees focus switch to the intriguing battle to grab that fourth spot, thereby qualifying for next season’s edition of the UEFA Champions League. With all teams kicking off at the same time this coming Sunday afternoon (12 May), Getafe are at the home of the newly crowned champions Barcelona, Valencia welcome Alaves and Sevilla make the tough trip to take on Atletico Madrid.
First things first
Before you go any further, head on over to the Oddsshark website, find your favourite betting site and create your own account with a username, password and credit card number. As a new customer and with the La Liga season set to come to a close, there should be a whole host of special offers and promotions available to you.
Where should I be investing my money?
First up, let’s start with the clash between Barcelona and Getafe at Camp Nou. With Barcelona having already been crowned champions there is a chance that they won’t be playing with the same levels of intensity that has brought them so much success over the last decade or so.
Getafe, meanwhile, are trying to hang on to the fourth spot, and one defeat in their last six league encounters shows that they could well have the wherewithal to pull this off. The side sit three points clear of both Valencia and Sevilla and are priced at just 1.90 to finish the season in fourth place.
Nevertheless, it is Barcelona who come into this match as the red hot favourites to take all three points. You can back the champions to win at just 1.53, while Getafe are out at 6.00 to do the same – a draw is priced in the middle at 4.33, according to Oddsshark.
And we think that this contest could end up honours even. A 1-1 draw is priced at 8.00, meaning that a US$5 bet would lead to a US$40 payout, while you can more than double your money by backing under 2.5 goals in the game at 2.20.
Valencia must beat Alaves to stay in contention
Meanwhile, Valencia must take all three points when Alaves come to town to stay in top four contention. The side has lost two of their last three matches but are just three points off Getafe and are also priced at 1.90 to finish the season in the top four.
Alaves, by way of comparison, are without a win in their last eight league encounters and have slipped into the bottom half of the table. Having been challenging for the top four for a large part of the campaign, their season now looks like ending on a sour note.
And it is indeed Valencia who come into this match as the clear favourites to take what could turn out to be three hugely valuable points. You can back the home side to win at just 1.40, while Alaves are out at 7.50 to do the same – a draw is priced in the middle at 5.00.
This should be a fairly comfortable afternoon’s work for the home side. A 3-1 win for Valencia is priced competitively at 11.00, thereby offering more than a ten-fold return on any investment, while you can triple your money by backing a combo bet of a Valencia win, coupled with both teams to score, at 3.00.
Atletico Madrid welcome sloppy Sevilla
And finally, Atletico Madrid host Sevilla looking to end the season on a high. This is their final home game of the campaign and three points would be welcome after their title challenge ended prematurely.
Sevilla, meanwhile, are still in the battle for the top four but three defeats in their last four tells its own story. As a result, the club are now all the way out at 17.00 to finish the season in the top four.
And while the betting is close, it is Atletico Madrid who come into this match as the favourites to take the points. You can more than double your money by backing the home side to win at 22.10, while Sevilla are out at 3.40 to do the same – a draw would appear to be the least likely outcome and is priced accordingly at 3.60.
And we think that home advantage could well be a decisive factor in this fixture. A comfortable, 2-0 win for Atletico comes in at 10.00, while you can more than double your money by backing a “No” to both teams scoring at 2.05.
