PSG superstar Mbappe donates Sh3.5million to fund the search for missing pilot

Kylian Mbappe makes incredible donation to Emiliano Sala pilot

Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe has donated £27,000 (Sh3.5million) to privately fund the search for David Ibbotson who piloted the plane carrying Emiliano Sala that crashed into the English Channel.

The light aircraft was carrying the 28-year-old footballer to his new Premier League team Cardiff City when it disappeared near Guernsey on January 21, along with 59-year-old pilot David Ibbotson.

Sala's body was recovered from the wreckage on the seabed but Ibbotson's body has not been found.

The player's body was first spotted by British rescuers using a remotely operated underwater vehicle on Sunday, close to where the plane vanished from radar.

Investigators recovered the body on Wednesday and transported it to the southern English coast. It was taken to Bournemouth where it was formally identified.

Investigators said they were abandoning plans to lift the plane wreckage out of the water due to bad weather.

The pilot’s family launched a fundraising campaign (GoFundMe page) on Friday to help find his remains and have received donations from Kylian Mbappe and Ex-England captain Gary Lineker who has also donated £1000.

The page’s fundraising goal is about $300k.
