Kayole Starlet host Baringo Starlets as Makolanders tackle Spedag.

Vihiga Queens will host Mombasa Olympic at Mumias Complex today at 1pm as the Football Kenya Federation Women Premier League continues this weekend.

The defending champions will be hunting for maximum points as they look to consolidate first position ahead of rivals Thika Queens.

Vihiga have amassed 54 points after 20 matches while Thika is second with 48 points and having played a match less.

Debutants Trans Nzoia Falcons are third with 44 points while Eldoret Falcons wrap up the top four with 41 points.

The champions will also face Vihiga Leeds in their second match of the weekend tomorrow.

Vihiga’s last meeting with Mombasa Olympic saw them claim a 6-1 win but head coach Alex Alumira believes today’s encounter will be different.

Alumira’s charges head to the match buoyed by a 4-0 thumping of rivals Thika Queens last weekend and a 2-1 win over Kisumu All Starlets midweek.

“It’s a difficult game considering their latest improvements.

“This second leg has seen an upsurge in performance of teams and our mid-week result against Kisumu All Starlets is a testament.

“We won 7-0 in the first leg and then 2-1 in the second leg,” said Alumira.

Commenting on the possibility of retaining the title, Alumira said it is still early to predict.

“As of now, we still have ten matches remaining and so it’s a bit premature to talk about being champions though there are chances as compared to the first leg where we slipped up two matches, “ he added.

In other matches today, Kayole Starlet will host basement based side Baringo Starlets at Stima Members Club Grounds while Makolanders will play against Spedag at Camp Toyoyo Grounds.

Wadadia will face Gaspo Women at Mumias Complex while rejuvenated Kisumu All Starlets will host Oserian Ladies at Moi Stadium.

Former champions, Thika Queens will host Soccer Queens at Thika Sub County Stadium.
