Football: Action as Coast Chapa Dimba ends

Eight teams will battle out as Coast Chapa Dimba na Safaricom tournament comes to an end at Shanzu Teachers Training College, Mombasa County, tomorrow.

The eight are among 166 teams in the fixtures last December.

The boys’ semi-finals have Tana Rivers’ Iqra FC and Breezeham of Malindi while Shimanzi of Mombasa will square it out with Shimba Hills of Kwale County.

In the girl’s semi-finals, Waa Girls from Kwale takes on St John’s from Kaloleni as Kilifi Queens will face Solwogidi from Malindi.

The winning teams from tomorrow’s final will each receive Sh200,000 and qualify for the national contest for the grand finale in March.

Teams who have sealed spots in nationals include Rift Valley’s Kapenguria Heroes and Tar Tar Girls as well as Mwingi Junior Academy and Ngakaa Talent Academy of Eastern.

In Nyanza, Ombek Red Devils and Plateau Queens also emerged regional champions while Al-Hayat FC represents North Eastern region.

Western, Central and Nairobi regions are also scheduled to stage their regional finals next week.

At the grand finale, the winning teams receives Sh1 million each and an opportunity for training and mentorship programme in London in April. [Ernest Ndunda]
