FKF to pocket Sh15 million in the three-year Sh74 million agreement.

Football Kenyan Federation (FKF) has unveiled a three-year Sh74 million kitting deal from Mafro Sports for all national football teams.

Under the contract, the company will provide 600 pieces to all national teams valued at Sh59 million and also pay FKF Sh15 million over the three years.

Speaking during yesterday’s launch, Mafro Sports Managing Director Mahmoud Gondha said apart from Kenya, his company also kits Zambia’s Under-19 team, Nkana Red Devils and Power Dynamos. The company also has a deal with the Zimbabwe national team, who took part in this year’s Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.

“We are inspired by a desire to do something great to our fellow Africans and that is why we have added Kenya to our stable,” Gondha said.

According to FKF President Nick Mwendwa, the launch is a culmination of a long process that began after they were voted into office last year.

“Fans were waiting for this moment and this is something we took seriously after being elected. We have been working to make it a reality.

“Since we came into office, we have been holding talks with various kit manufactures before signing this deal today (yesterday).

“They gave us what we were looking for when you consider that for the first time, FKF will be receive some money from kitting the national teams,” he added.

For the replica, Mwendwa said the first batch will arrive in the country on June 1 and will be available for sale at leading sporting shops. Under the new deal, Harambee Stars will wear the red kit for home games, white for away and green for neutral. SportPesa Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ronald Karauri hailed FKF for the new deal.

“It gives us an even bigger platform for engaging with the federation as we support them to send the national team to the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations and then the 2022 World Cup,” said Karauri.

Sports Cabinet Secretary Hassan Wario representative Haroun Komen said the Government had set aside Sh25 million to rebrand all national teams in the country.
