Former Kenya Cup champions Kenya Commercial Bank and Kenya Harlequin will be hoping to extend their stay at the top of the table when both teams play away in today’s round twelve of the 2016/17 season.

The bankers, who are tied on points (45) with Quins despite their unbeaten run, visit Strathmore Leos at Jamhuri Grounds as Mwamba RFC host Quins at Railways Grounds.

Although Quins have been considered as favourites ahead of the Mwamba encounter, head coach Joel Ng’ang’a is wary of the threat posed by their hosts.

“It will be a challenging game for us because we have not been playing well away, while Mwamba have been consistent. I am just hoping that the boys will come to the party and deliver. Our target is to remain at the top, nothing else,” Ng’ang’a told Feverpitch.

Defending champions Kabras Sugar, who are 10 points behind the joint league leaders also have an away fixture against Kenyatta University’s Blak Blad.

Fourth-placed Homeboyz RFC (33) will be seeking to pile more misery on the struggling University of Nairobi’s Mean Machine as Nakuru RFC take on Nondescripts in a second match of the day at Jamhuri after a 2pm kick off between KCB and Strathmore.

Relegation-threatened Western Bulls will entertain last year’s Kenya Cup losing finalists Impala, who are sixth with 30 points but with a game in hand, at Kakamega High School.

Meanwhile, the Kenya Rugby Union Championship continues today with a five matches on the card across different venues as the quest for Kenya Cup qualification hots up.

The highlight of the weekend will be a clash between third-placed USIU (25 points) and second-placed Catholic Monks (29 points) at Kasarani.

Leaders Resolution Kisii RFC (36) will host unpredictable fourth placed South Coast Pirates (23) at Gusii Stadium as the University of Eldoret welcome Mombasa RFC in Eldoret and Moi University host bottom-placed JKUAT.

Thika RFC travel to Mamboleo Showground to face Kisumu RFC with whom they are tied on points (12).
