Romelu Lukaku was a Chelsea fan growing up but despite failing to make the grade at Stamford Bridge, the Belgian is still fond of the Blues.

The Everton star was forced to move to Goodison in order to kick start his career and has duly done just that with 78 goals in four seasons for the Toffees.

Despite becoming a hero for the Gwladys Street faithful, Lukaku has heaped praise on his former colleagues at the Premier League leaders when asked to pick his dream five-a-side team - starting with his Belgium national team goalkeeper.

"I've known him [Thibaut Courtois] since I was 12, I've played against him my whole life," Lukaku said. "He's done a great job at Chelsea and Atletico Madrid so I'd choose him.

"I'd choose John [Terry] because he's the biggest leader. In the dressing room, he had such a great impact on the team," Lukaku added. "To witness that with my own eyes, it was something amazing.

"[Vincent] Kompany used to be a very good ball playing centre-half back in the day and he has still got it. He comes from the same academy at Anderlecht, has been an example for us, the younger kids, and has been an example for us, the younger kids, who came through the ranks."

Lukaku made a special tribute to the newly retired Frank Lampard, who made an impression on the striker as a youngster.

"Frankie was just a joke, unbelievable finisher. I've seen him do stuff where I think 'my god,'" Lukaku revealed.

Lukaku was often compared to Blues legend Didier Drogba when coming through as a teenager and the Ivorian's influence is enough to earn him a spot to round off his side.

"The main man [Didier Drogba]. The game-winner, game-changer," Lukaku said. "He used to win games whenever we were in trouble."
