Demi Lovato makes comeback as a Rockstar

Months after she took a hiatus, American singer and actor Demetria Devonne Lovato, aka Demi Lovato, is back with a new album. Earlier this year, the 30-year-old award-winning singer announced that her successful days as a pop star had sadly come to an end.

"A funeral for my pop music," she captioned a photo that elicited mixed reactions among her fans who a section believed that she was exiting the stage. However, in a recent interview, Lovato clarified that she was not quitting her musical career but was making a transition into rock music.

"It wasn't an actual funeral. But I was in a label meeting and we all happened to be wearing black and I was like, 'This is perfect because I'm not playing pop music anymore. This is a rock album," she explained.

Talking about her latest album, dubbed Holy Fvck, Demi said she was very specific with how she wanted the songs and generally the sound to come out.

"I definitely wanted to go harder with the sound," she stated, adding that the lyrics in the songs are inspired by her journey through alcohol and drug addiction, mental health issues, treatment, and recovery.

The Heart Attack hitmaker also noted that she started writing the album, which is now her eighth after she voluntarily walked into a rehabilitation center last year in December. Demi said her time at the rehab facility had exposed unresolved trauma from her over 20 years in the spotlight, which she says she has learned to cope with and is slowly on a recovery path.

"I had learned to honor my anger rather than shoving it down, which I had been doing for quite some time, and that really showed in the lyrics," she added.

Sharing a glimpse of what her fans should expect from the album, Demi disclosed that being on stage in leotards and stilettos was never comfortable for her.

"One of the lines is, 'Would you like me better if I was still her?' I'm referring to a period of time in my life where I was this hyper-feminine pop star that everyone else wanted me to be. I was on stage in leotards and stilettos, and that's never been comfortable to me. And so, Eat Me was definitely a song where I was talking about how I'm tired of spoon feeding myself to the public," she said.
