Police in Kitale are holding two security guards over the brutal killing of a 17-year-old girl.
Trans Nzoia County Police Commander Ayub Gitonga said the Form Three girl was shot with an arrow while gathering firewood in Karunga farm on Saturday evening.
The girl is believed to have been shot in the neck before her body was stacked in a polythene bag and dumped into a nearby river.
"A report of the killing of a theft suspect was made at Musengi patrol base on September 4, 2020," he said.

Gitonga said 46-year-old Michael Kipragut and Roy Kibet Chelangaa, 42 were arrested over the killing of the juvenile and are helping police in investigations.
He said the body of the teenager with deep arrow injuries had been taken to Kiminini Cottage Hospital Mortuary.
Area residents led by local politician Wafula Mutacho condemned the killing and asked the government to probe the matter.
"It is a sad incident. Why did they have to kill her? We have lost an innocent life," castigated Mutacho.
