2012 scandalous moments in celebrity vile
By - | December 14th 2012
Celebrities not only entertain. They often scandalise us with their theatrics and dramatic lives. This year was no different. Here are some the year’s most scandalous happenings as collated by Shirley Genga
UK Royals go nude
This year has been a good one for the British Royal family with the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations, Kate Middleton’s wedding to Prince William and subsequent royal conception, the Olympics as well as the Queen’s 65th wedding anniversary. Not that they missed out being in the media for all the wrong reasons. First, nude pictures of Prince Harry scandalised the crown. Harry got naked in Vegas during a game of strip billiards with a room full of friends in his VIP suite. Some of the partiers snapped photos of the madness and posted them on the Internet. And before Harry’s scandal was defused, topless pictures of a vacationing Duchess of Cambridge, Kate, were published in a French magazine.
Beyoncé’s fake pregnancy rumour
In August 2011, Beyoncé trumped every performance at the MTV Video Music Awards when she announced that she and husband Jay-Z were expecting their first child. A month later, rumours swirled that Beyoncé wore a prosthetic bump for her big baby announcement after photos of her bikini-baring body emerged one week later — showing a slightly less rounded midsection. Then later during an Australian interview, Beyoncé’s belly collapsed and folded when she bent forward awkwardly to sit.
The power couple rented out the entire fourth floor of the Lenox Hill Hospital. Security at the hospital was extra tight— doctors and nurses unaffiliated with the birth were forbidden from entering the fourth floor. The mysterious birth further caused speculation that a surrogate gave birth to baby Ivy and not Beyoncé.
Throughout the pregnancy and after, Beyoncé seemed able to somehow keep her figure perfect, almost unnaturally.
Janet Jackson slaps Michael Jackson’s daughter
In July this year, Janet Jackson, Randy Jackson and Jermaine Jackson got into an altercation with the late Michael Jackson’s children in what became one of the most shocking family feuds in 2012.
What was at stake? Michael Jackson’s billion-dollar estate whose access is guaranteed only through custody of his three children. A video surveillance footage taken from the home shows Janet, 46, aggressively trying to snatch Paris’ cell phone from her hands and slapping the teen. Violence also ensued between the male Jackson family members who were in attendance, according to reports.
Twilight star caught cheating on camera
Kristen Stewart, though barely 22, is the highest paid film actress in Hollywood but that was not what caused tongues to wag in 2012.
The heroine of the teen movie franchise Twilight was caught on camera cheating on her co-star and long-time boyfriend Robert Pattinson in July. The man in the picture caught kissing and cuddling Kristen was none other than 41–year-old Robert Pattinson, who is married.
Is John Travolta gay?
John Travolta was once again at the centre of gay rumours. A male masseur filed a lawsuit against the actor claiming that he tried to have sex with him during a massage session. This is not the first time gay rumours have surrounded the actor. Back in 2006, John was caught on camera kissing Jeff Kathrein, his male nanny, while boarding a private plane, which was carrying his wife and children.
Halle’s Battle for Nahla
This year, Halle Berry and her ex Gabriel Aubry have gone through a public and humiliating custody battle for their daughter Nahla. Mid this year, Halle, now newly engaged to Oliver Martinez, attempted to move her daughter to France with her new man and away from Aubry, but the court ruled against the move. Just when the twosome looked like they had come to a truce, Halle’s ex and new boyfriend got into a physical fight in front of Nahla.
Whitney Houston’s death
The six times Grammy legend was found dead on February 11 mysteriously in the bathtub of her room at the Beverly Hilton hotel, the day she was to open the annual Clive Davis pre-Grammy party. Just 48 years old, the iconic singer suffered from substance abuse problems for years and went to rehab three times. An attempted comeback was constantly thwarted by her scandalous marriage to Bobby Brown and her recurring drug demons.
