For you to look trendy, do not only colour block but mix the outfits with neutral shades such as nudes, black and champagne.
For an awesome look, the trick is to colour block from head to bottom and also to splash a neutral shade on the toes.
In fact, you can wear a neutral colour on top and colour block everywhere else.
