Wetang’ula faction to discipline ‘rebels’

A faction allied to embattled Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetang’ula (pictured) wants perceived renegades linked to his ouster to apologise or face a disciplinary committee.

The committee to be chaired by West Mugirango lawmaker Vincent Kemosi is expected to listen to submissions of Wafula Wamunyinyi (Kanduyi), Secretary General Dr Eseli Simiyu (Tongaren) and the party’s woman league chair Cynthia Mutere.

Yesterday, in what appears to be never-ending accusations and counter-accusations, Wetangula’s group retreated at the party headquarters where they claimed some signatures of members of the National Executive Council (NEC) that ousted him were fake.

According to Wetang’ula, 14 members who appended their signatures to the documents were not members of the party’s NEC.

“We requested the registrar to give us the documents presented by the rebels who sat at Radisson Blu and upon our scrutiny, we found that there were 14 imposters,” claimed Wetang’ula.

Prosecute imposters

Wetangula’s group has called for prosecution of purported imposters who appended their signatures to oust him.

This comes barely 24 hours after Registrar of Political Parties Ann Nderitu declared the warring between the two factions of the lion’s party a dispute.

In a letter to Wetang’ula, Nderitu said the members of the party should resolve the row internally.
