Varied reactions over gazetting of Wetang’ula voter bribery findings

There were mixed reactions over the gazetting of court findings that Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula’s bribed voters.

On Friday, Senate Speaker Ekwe Ethuro gazetted court findings that Wetangula bribed voters, a move that opens the way for the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission to deregister him as a voter. This may see the CORD co-principal blocked from contesting in the next General Election.

Bungoma County Ford Kenya youth leader Wafula Wakoli read malice in this move.

“We are seeing the Jubilee leaders hand in the push to see the Ford Kenya party leader out of the race,” he said.

Wakoli noted that the government was planning to scuttle the opposition ahead of the next General Elections.

Daniel Wakoli on social media said the writing is already on the wall. “Wetang’ula still commands a large following in the whole of Western and the current predicament is making him more popular.”

Others lauded the move. Isaiah Mulongo said Wetang’ula should pay for his sin: “bribing voters is unconstitutional and should know better. Let him carry his cross,” he said.
