A family in Alego/Usonga constituency wants a Legion Maria Church Priest arrested and charged for allegedly defiling and impregnating their 17-year-old daughter.
According to the girl’s granny, the priest in charge of St Mary’s Nyahombe Legion Maria Church in Komenya Rabar committed the offence five months ago.
Mzee William Opondi, who is also a catechist in the same church, told Standard Digital that the priest had requested him to allow the teenager to stay at the church compound with other little girls during the period that schools were closed before she could travel to her uncle in Mombasa.
"The pregnancy was discovered by her uncle's wife in Mombasa where they took her for a test," said Opondo.
The 74-year-old catechist said the teenager named the priest who has since been suspended from the church over alleged misconduct as the one who was responsible for the pregnancy.
