Pupil hospitalised after being defiled, impregnated by her teacher

Police in Kisumu have arrested a primary school teacher who is alleged to have defiled and impregnated a Class 8 Pupil in Awasi, Kisumu County.

The 14-year-old pupil is currently admitted at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH) with heavy bleeding after efforts to procure an abortion spearheaded by suspect and the minor's aunt backfired.

Nyando police boss Leonard Matete said the suspect, the teacher at Wanganga Primary School allegedly lured the pupil into a lodge at Awasi Township before committing the offence.

The teacher is alleged to have convinced the pupil's aunt to help her procure an abortion at a backstreet clinic, which backfired forcing them to rush to JOOTRH where she is admitted.

Matete said the suspect has been arrested and the police were still hunting for the girl's aunt who has gone into hiding.

"We have all the evidence that puts him at the centre of the crime," said the police boss, adding that the teachers will be taken to court on Monday.

"The girl was still bleeding by yesterday when she was found by a Good Samaritan and rushed to the hospital," said Matete.

He said the minor was defiled two months ago, but it was until yesterday when the police were notified after the botched abortion.

Police reports indicate that the joint where the pupil was defiled is notorious for allowing underage girls to drink and make merry with adults.

They have heightened surveillance at the joint and are investigating the allegations against the management.
