SIAYA COUNTY: Siaya Governor Cornel Rasanga has declared today a public holiday and warned residents against going to work.
Speaking in Ugunja at the weekend, Rasanga said he has the power to make such a declaration since he is the county's chief executive.
"No government employee will be allowed into the office since today is a public holiday," he said.
Rasanga said anybody found violating his order will be taken to task for not respecting the county's authority.
