Buru Buru matatus boycott operations, complain Umoinner invading their route

NAIROBI COUNTY: A section of matatu operators on Buru Buru route in Nairobi are on strike over usage of some roads in the area.

The number 58 matatus have boycotted duty in the area demanding that police stop their Umoinner counterparts from using a link road popularly known as Sonko Road through Mutindwa.

Those on strike say the TLB for Umoinner does not allow them to use the link road between Umoja and Buru Buru shopping centre and instead require them to use Outer Ring Road.

They want police to arrest any Umoinner matatu using the route.

The strike has affected some of the local commuters who were not aware it had been called. Police say they will act on the claims.
