Embakasi's Nyayo Estate residents raise alarm over dogs

By Nunn Asa

Residents of Nyayo Estate Embakasi are up in arms against dog menace in their neighbourhood. This, they say, happens especially in the early hours of dusk when owners let the beasts loose.

“The dogs are left loose very early and are now a source of worry to most of us,” said Marren Aluoch, a pedestrian.

She complained that the mongrels frequent areas with high numbers of people such as petrol stations, increasing the chances of bites.

The most affected are people living close to the Kenchick outlet near the total petrol station.

Residents not used to dogs and those who may not be having vehicles are likely to spend hours having to wait till the fierce dogs depart for a meal.

Another resident, Michael Mashashi identified a black with brown-patched canine as being the most notorious.

Residents have urged owners to contain their animals within their compounds and not along public paths.

They have threatened to take an unspecified action against the canines.
