Traders in Suba South held a demonstration to protest against the poor state of a bridge along the Sindo–Kisegi Road, which they say has caused numerous deaths.

The traders, comprising boda boda operators and small-scale traders staged the demonstration in Sindo Township yesterday to push the national government to re-construct the Day Bridge.

Led by the chairman of Sindo Boda Boda Association Michael Aluoch, the traders said the bridge was affecting the local economy. “The body of a minor was recently found under this bridge.

It kills people during the rainy season and we are worried that it may kill more people if heavy rains continue,” said Mr Aluoch. They called on local MP John Mbadi to ensure the bridge is repaired.

“This bridge is on a national government road and we call on Mr Mbadi to help us push for its re-construction,” said Mr Thomas Ondiala, a trader.
