Friday Briefing: CORD alleges that Senate Speaker Ekwe Ethuro of under-handing the Senate vote

Friday Briefing | Friday 6 Jan 2017 9:50 pm

The opposition coalition now claims the senate speaker Ekwe Ethuro conspired with jubilee leadership in the senate to rig the vote during the second reading stage on the contentious amendments to the election laws which were passed by the senate last night.  Cord co-principals Kalonzo Musyoka and Moses Wetang’ula have threatened to move to court to challenge the decision by speaker Ethuro to allow nominated senator Hosea Ochwangi to vote on behalf of Kisii senator Chris Obure.  However, the jubilee leadership in the senate has dismissed cords allegations insisting senator Ochwangi’s vote was legal.
