23, Oct 2020

University Academic Staff Union (UASU) National officials led by Secretary General Constantine Wesonga and National chairman Muga Kolale have given Egerton University until Tuesday next week to effect payment of full salaries and arrears owed to its academic staff failure to which learning which resumed earlier this week will grind to a halt. University Academic Staff Union (UASU) national office issued a seven day ultimatum to the varsity's administration on Wednesday afternoon protesting 40 percent pay cut slapped on their members seven months ago. The lecturers demanded full pay citing that the institution despite having raised funds from the students was yet to pay them. The University Vice Chancellor Prof Rose Mwonya in April issued a notice to the staff saying that the decision to make partial payments was informed by the current Coronavirus pandemic.
