Barclays suspended from trading

10, Feb 2020

Barclays Bank Kenya has been halted from trading at the securities exchange after the bank re?branded to the ABSA group. This is in line with NSE equity trading rules 9.4.2 which paves the way for the stock to be listed now as ABSA. The rebrand to ABSA is part of the bank's transition after it was acquired. The bank's managing director Jeremy Awori notes that the name change is the culmination of a transition journey which the bank has been undertaking over the last four years. The legal name change now makes Barclays Kenya to be enlisted as part of the ABSA group limited which has a presence across 12 countries and an international office in London with plans underway to open one in new york USA.
