Residents Of Ndikir Village In Laisamis, Marsabit County Have Now Found An Alternative Source Of Income, Through Sale Of Raw Gums And Resins Extracted From Locally Available Trees.  The Village That Is Mainly Inhabited By Members Of The Rendille Community Which Is Predominantly Pastoralist Can Now Boast Of An Alternative Source Of Livelihood, As Proceeds From The Sale Of These Raw Wood Products Go A Long Way Towards Helping Locals Pay School Fees For Their Children As Well As Act As An Incentive To Conserve The Trees Which Were Earlier Viewed As A Source Of Charcoal
