The Next Generation of Game Consoles Are Here

An exclusive interview by Wired with the lead architect of PlayStation4 has revealed Play Station 5 is on the way.

‘Play Station 5’ presuming that would be the brand name, is much more than a simple upgrade.

Expected for shipping in 2020, it will be expected to hit the market the same time as Microsoft’s Xbox ‘2’ which will be the first console to operate without conventional physical game discs.

Basically disc-less.

With an ‘s’ guys.

The Xbox One S All-Digital-Edition will have free games including Forza Horizon 3, Minecraft and Sea of Thieves and will include a 1Terabyte Hard-drive.

Sony’s Play Station 5 has seemingly outdone itself with the inclusion of a Solid State Drive in place of the mechanical Hard-Drive as in the Xbox series. The PlayStation 5’s SSD is touted to be more powerful with higher raw bandwidth, than the ones currently available for all PCs.

Much more has being touted about the PlayStation 5, including the ability to support 8K graphics, as well as 3D audio.

Another important element is the fact that the PS5 will be backwards compatible with current PS4 and lower titles, which is something Sony never made possible when the PS4 was first launched.

The backwards compatibility also extends to the PSVR headset and controllers.

According to the last series release sales records, Play Station 4, released in 2013, sold 92 million units while Xbox One moved 41 million units. PlayStation 2 is the most successful video game console with 159 million units sold.
