Kenya Obstetrical and Gynecological Society's released statement following quack Doctor Mugo arrest

14th November, 2018

Even as his case begins in court, Mugo wa Wairimu has had a share of condemnation not only form the public but also from practicing medical doctors, We retract a statement from the Kenya Obstetrical and Gynecological Society (KOGS)  on the 6th of November this year which indicated that Quackery has increased, is increasing, and must be diminished.  … KOGS condemns this practice, which is not only premised on willful wrongdoing but is also exploitative for financial purpose. To the best of our knowledge, Mr. Mugo is not and has never been an Obstetrician/Gynecologist. His practice bears the hallmarks of social injustice, lack of ethics and defilement of human rights especially the disrespect, violation and inhumane treatment accorded to vulnerable women seeking care… It is a direct assault on the professional integrity of the obstetrician and gynecologist earning an honest living. There is need for him (Mr. Mugo) to face the full wrath of the law and severe recourse meted by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentist Board… We should not allow patients to suffer at the hands of quacks.
