Elgeyo Marakwet County is counting losses running into hundreds of thousands of shillings after forest guards in the area destroyed crops in his farm. The farmers says the Kenya forest rangers slashed over 7,000 cabbage plants in the farm after he failed to give then a 20,000 shillings bribe. The barbaric incident caught the attention of leaders in the county lead by environment CEC Abraham Barsosio calling on Kenya forest service to take tough action against the forest guards involved. They also want the KFS to compensate the farmer who has a permit to farm in the forest through the shamba system.
